Leslie Russell Name: Leslie Russell (ne้ Miller) Age: 24 Stats: 5'10", 140 lbs Birthplace: Humble, Texas, USA At high school, Leslie excelled in basketball, volleyball and cross-country in addition to track and field. She won a track scholarship to San Diego State University where she graduated in sociology. While there she met and later married Brian Russell (now playing with the Cleveland Browns NFL team). They have a home in San Diego, and live in Cleveland during the winter football months. Leslie was a standout in the heptathlon - the seven-event test of the best all-round female athlete. The seven events consist of the 100-meter hurdles, high jump, shotput and 200-meter on the first day, and long jump, javelin and 800 meter on the second day. She won the Mountain West conference heptathlon three times while at San Diego State. She showed such talent in the javelin discipline that she competed at the 2004 Olympic trials in that event. She did not make the Olympic team in 2004, but has dedicated herself to making the team for the 2008 Olympics in Beijing, China. Leslie and Brian were featured in Sports Illustrated in December 2005. In between training she finds time to model sportswear and do photo shoots for magazines like Muscle and Fitness Hers, Ironman and Shape. |
